Our Educational Sessions are:
York is a very old city, founded by the Romans and captured by the Vikings means there is a rich history within the town.
The first educational session was in the Jorvic Viking Centre and involved a journey around a typical Viking settlement. Learn about the Viking people and how they conquered and then settled, changing from marauding bloodthirsty warriors, to farmers and skilled metal workers, who eventually settled in the north east and integrated themselves into the British way of life. This gave the children a fascinating insight into life over 1,000 years ago.
In the afternoon, we had a talk by a guide who showed the children authentic weapons and gave a fantastic workshop about battles and strategy employed by the Vikings.
